Martin Flicker (born October 6, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian gardener and politician ( ÖVP ).

life and career

Martin Flicker was born on October 6, 1969 in Vienna and attended compulsory school from 1975 to 1984 before he began training as a gardener assistant. He has been a freelance gardener at LGV-Frischgemüse Wien since 1985 and completed his training two years later. He has been a master gardener since 1992. After taking over his parents' company, he has been running it in the third generation. After the original area fell victim to the urban expansion of Vienna, Flicker and a colleague leased land in the immediate vicinity of the Hirschstetten bathing pond in 2003 . Since then, an area of ​​one hectare has been cultivated there. The company, which specializes in cucumbers but also grows other types of vegetables, also has a second operating location nearby. Flicker has been the district chairman of the farmers' union in the Danube city since 2000 and was also a district councilor of the ÖVP in Vienna's 22nd district from 2001 to 2011 . In parallel to this function, he has been a chamber councilor in the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture since 2003 , since 2008 club chairman of the farmers 'union and the Vienna Chamber of Agriculture, and since 2007 regional chairman of the Vienna farmers' union. On September 23, 2011, he replaced Matthias Tschirf in the Vienna City Council and State Parliament and was a member of the 19th electoral term for the rest of the time . As early as 2010, Flicker ran in the state elections in second place on the constituency list for the municipal council.

Private

Flicker is married and has two children. He is a member of the Breitenlee volunteer fire brigade , where he currently has the rank of chief firefighter (HFM).
