Martin Forstner

Martin Forstner (born August 23, 1940 in Nuremberg ) is a German orientalist .

Life

From 1960 to 1968 Forstner studied Islamic philology , ethnology and African studies in Erlangen , Vienna , Cologne and Mainz . In 1961 he became a member of the Corps Bavaria Erlangen . 1968 to Dr. phil. doctorate , he became assistant and assistant professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . Habilitated private lecturer since 1975 , he was appointed to the chair for Arabic studies and Arabic translatology in 1993 .
