Martin Friedrich
Martin Friedrich (born October 27, 1957 in Dortmund ) is a German Protestant theologian. Since 2002 he has been working as a study secretary at the Community of Evangelical Churches in Europe .
Education and activity
Friedrich studied Protestant theology at the Universities of Bochum and Münster and in 1986 in Bochum Dr. theol. PhD. He then worked as a vicar and pastor in various parishes and was ordained in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia in 1990 . From 1993 to 2002 he worked in the project Edition of Philipp Jakob Spener's letters at the Ruhr University Bochum, where he qualified as a professor in 1996 in the subject of church history . Since 2002 he has been part of the office of the Community of Evangelical Churches in Europe and, as Secretary of Studies, is primarily responsible for internal Protestant doctrinal discussions and interdenominational dialogues. In 2003 the University of Bochum awarded him the title of "Extraordinary Professor" (apl. Prof. ). He is a regular lecturer at the Elstal Theological University .
In his publications, Friedrich deals primarily with topics from modern church history as well as ecumenical theology and denominational studies .
