from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Martin Gremse (* 1983 in Goslar ) is a German painter .

Life

From 1997 to 2003 Gremse trained in artistic screen printing and photography. For the period from 2000 to 2004 he received a scholarship from the Ecumenical Learning Foundation . In 2013 he was the recipient of a sponsorship award from the Rotary Club Nordharz and traveled to Abu Dhabi as Artist in Residence . In 2007 Gremse began studying medicine at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg , which he completed in 2014. After graduating, he devoted himself full-time to painting.

For his abstract, often multi-colored works, Gremse uses ceramic surfaces, steel as canvas, screen prints, graffiti techniques and silver as a painting medium. The painter's pictures go through a complex creation process, which includes the application of different color media and layers of silver, chemical reactions as well as multiple repetitions of these work steps. The reflective silver layers only partially reveal the color layers underneath.

Martin Gremse lives and works in Goslar and Berlin.
