Martin Habersaat (born February 18, 1977 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag since 2009, where he is deputy chairman and education policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

Habersaat grew up in Barsbüttel and now lives in Reinbek with his wife and their two sons . After graduating from high school in Marienthal in 1996 , he did his community service in the ev.-luth. Barsbüttel parish. Until 2004 he studied German and history at the University of Hamburg for the upper level teaching position at general schools (LOA). From 2004 to 2006 he completed his legal clerkship at the Sachsenwald School in Reinbek. From 2006 to 2009 he was a teacher at the Emil-Krause-Gymnasium in Hamburg and taught the subjects German, history and PGW (Politics-Society-Economics). As a civil servant, he is on leave for the duration of his state parliament mandate.

Habersaat joined the SPD in 1998. From 2001 to 2004 he was chairman of the SPD local association Barsbüttel , from 2004 to 2012 he was chairman of the SPD district association Stormarn . From 2003 to 2013 he was a member of the municipal council of Barsbüttel, and from 2003 to 2012 also the district council of the Stormarn district . Habersaat was a member of the 16th Federal Assembly that elected Frank-Walter Steinmeier as Federal President on February 12, 2017 in the Reichstag building in Berlin .
