Martin Hasselmann

Martin Hasselmann (born July 9, 1972 in Weimar ) is a German biologist and professor at the University of Hohenheim .

After graduating from EOS Friedrich Schiller in Weimar in 1991, Hasselmann did his community service at the environmental agency of the city ​​of Weimar . From 1992 he studied biology at the University of Jena . After a stay abroad at the Autonomous University of Madrid , Hasselmann obtained his diploma in biology in 1999 with the thesis "Molecular markers in zoogeography - Nebria castanea BONELLI, 1810 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) as a possible relic in extra-alpine Central Europe" . He then worked as a research assistant for Robin FA Moritz at the Institute for Zoology at the University of Halle . After research in California and Norway Hasselmann was the support of the University of Halle in 2004 with the signature "Molecular characterization of the sex-determining locus of the honeybee (Apis mellifera L.)" From October 2005 Hasselmann worked at the Institute for Genetics at the University of Düsseldorf . He later headed a research group at the University of Cologne , where he completed his habilitation in 2012. Hasselmann has held a full chair for population genomics at the University of Hohenheim since July 2014 . His research focuses on the population genomics of bees and other farm animals and their interactions with their biotic and abiotic environment as well as the population dynamics of these animals.
