Martin Krieger (historian)

Martin Krieger (born October 11, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a German historian .

Martin Krieger studied Middle and Modern History, Prehistory and Early History as well as Scandinavian Philology at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel from 1987 to 1993 . After obtaining his master's degree in 1993, he completed a doctoral degree in Kiel and Greifswald from 1993 to 1995. From 1996 to 2001, Krieger was a research assistant at the Chair for General History of Modern Times in Greifswald. In 2001 he completed his habilitation with the thesis Patriotism in Hamburg. Identity formation in the age of the early enlightenment . From 2001, Krieger taught as a private lecturer at the University of Greifswald . Since April 2009 he has been a full professor for Northern European history and director of the chair of the same name at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. He is the editor of the History of the Continents series published by Böhlau Verlag .
