Martin Linzer
Martin Linzer (born September 8, 1931 in Berlin ; † December 13, 2014 there ) was a German theater critic and dramaturge .
Live and act
Linzer, who grew up in a social democratic family during the Nazi dictatorship, studied theater studies at the Humboldt University from 1950 to 1954 (in a semester group with Kurt Böwe and Rudolf Münz ). From 1954 he worked as an editor for the magazine Theater der Zeit .
From 1963 to 1967 he worked as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater . Then he returned to Theater der Zeit , where he acted as the editorial secretary. From 1991 to 1999 he worked there as editor-in-chief. Linzer also produced the concert series Jazz in der Kammer from 1965 to 1990 , in which the leading jazz avant-garde musicians were presented in the Kammerspiele at the Deutsches Theater .
Heiner Müller wrote about him in 1991: “I just want to say: Martin Linzer has been doing his job as a theater critic for centuries. (...) He is one of the rare critics in the GDR who has never lied more than necessary to tell the truth. "
Since 2017, the Martin-Linzer-Theaterpreis has been awarded by the specialist journal Theater der Zeit in memory of the journal's long-time critic and editor-in-chief.
