Martin Mundo

Martin Johann Mundo (born October 30, 1882 in Mainz ; † March 14, 1941 ibid) was a Mainz folk poet and a formative figure of the Mainz Carnival . In numerous appearances he embodied the Mainz citizen father Knorzel and appeared together with his sister Maria Greiner-Mundo and his daughter Aenne as the popular hand-made speaker of the Mainz Carneval Club, which was founded in 1899 . His best-known work is the hit song Heile, heile Gänsje from 1929 .

Even in the difficult period after the DC circuit by the Nazis, he succeeded in taking advantage of key rivalry between SA and SS to keep political carnival speeches. In 1936 Hermann Göring was the target of a lecture, the subject of which was the comparison of Göring with a herring. At the end of the Carnival campaign in 1935, Mundo and other carnivores were imprisoned on Ash Wednesday in a Mainz hotel near the main train station . Later, Gauleiter Jakob Sprenger "invited" the punished to an Ash Wednesday breakfast and presented everything as a joke.

work life

In 1916 the wine merchant Martin Mundo founded a liqueur factory that still exists today. Initially, the rooms and cellars were located in Weißliliengasse ( Mainz-Altstadt ), until a company expansion made the move to nearby Mainz-Kostheim necessary. The associated production of caramel syrup and caramel colors for our own needs has been successfully expanded again and again and the company, which is now in the 3rd generation, is one of the market leaders in this area.

Other products that are used as food additives in the spirits industry were later added to the product portfolio: typages , essences and distillates .
