Plattner primarily writes texts for female speakers and performers, men rarely appear in his works. Plattner wants to show women between 30 and 60 who, in his opinion, still find little space on the theater stage. In doing so, he uses real role models because he “wants to make it clear that interesting women are there and that we don't look enough, too often listen away”.

The female characters are always excluded. Plattner shows the connection between mechanisms of exclusion and the acquisition, exercise and loss of power. Plattner confronts the mostly historical female characters with current and everyday issues such as caring for relatives.

Who shot the princess from 2010 presents princess figures from history, fairy tales and South American telenovelas as an alternative to rebels, artists and film divas. The title and content are based on Elfriede Jelinek's princess dramas. Elfriede Jelinek himself also took part in the production and spoke texts. The play was created in international cooperation and was premiered at brut in the Künstlerhaus, was performed again in the Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City, was resumed in Vienna in 2011 and was the subject of a theater studies symposium on drama and political resistance.

The focus of order: Hausen (2014) is to make a 41-year-old woman to be distributed together with her mother out of her house to make way for a sewage treatment plant. The daughter defends herself against pressure from the village community and writes threatening letters anonymous. “It's about women who are condemned to silence. I want to give you a voice, ”said Plattner. When the list of names appears, Umhausen falls into a state of emergency. The villagers set out to find the author of the threatening letters, and social abysses full of prejudices and mechanisms of exclusion open up.

Maultasch from 2015 describes social isolation and exclusion associated with a loss of power. Margarete von Tirol was princess of the Tyrolean hereditary lands . After two arranged marriages and four children, all of which she survived, Margarete hands over her hereditary lands to the Habsburgs and withdraws to look after her sick sister Adelheid. Antimortina (2017) addresses maternal care and nursing as an existential reassurance: a mother of ten children is left alone with the youngest child and devotes herself entirely to caring for the last child. In the piece Ferner (2018) he describes the everyday care routine from the perspective of the carers and those being cared for. A civil servant and a head nurse follow an old woman named Zimmer XXXIII who has escaped from the nursing home through an icy underworld .
