Martin Praska

Martin Praska (* 1963 in Wiesloch near Heidelberg ) is a German - Austrian painter and graphic artist .

From 2002 to 2004 he was chairman of the IG Bildende Kunst .

Live and act

Praska graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1985 to 1990 , earned the diploma with distinction and was honored with the silver Füger Prize in 1986 .

In 1987 he received a working scholarship, in 1993 he took part in the painters' symposium in Werfen . He took up scholarships abroad for Krumau (1994) and London (1998).

He has been a member of the MAERZ artists' association since 1996 . In 1999 he founded with Bury Götz , Matthias Hammer and Sebastian Weissenbacher the artist group The Half Truth and in 2008 he co-founded the artist group k2 United Painters, which also includes Ahmed Borai , Jan Eeckhout, Johannes Kriesche and Rainer Landeck .

He has lived and worked in Vienna since 1985 . In his works he consciously makes use of Old Masters , Pop Art , Fluxus and Expressionism .

Exhibitions

Praska presents his works in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad.
