Martin Pries

Martin Pries (born May 3, 1957 in Flensburg ) is an adjunct professor for cultural geography at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg .

Pries studied geography , German language and literature and education in Hamburg and graduated in 1984 with the first state examination. This was followed by a doctorate at the University of Hamburg from 1984 to 1989 as well as the legal clerkship and the completion of the second state examination. From 1990 to 1992 he was head of the “Seminar for Work and Profession” training center and then became a research assistant at the University of Lüneburg. Since 1996 he has been an academic councilor there . From 2004 to 2007, Pries held a substitute professorship for "Didactics of Geography" at the University of Bremen . In 2005 he completed his habilitation at the University of Hamburg on the subject of changing waterfronts. Baltimore and New York . Since 2012 Pries has been an adjunct professor for cultural geography at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg.

Martin Pries' main research interests are historical geography , cultural landscape research, industrial archeology , geography didactics and the United States of America. He also offers courses on topics in physical geography.
