Martin Repinski (born August 6, 1986 in Kohtla-Järve ) is an Estonian businessman and politician. From November 23, 2016 to December 12, 2016 he was Minister for Rural Development of the Republic of Estonia. From June 2018 to April 2019 he was Mayor of Jõhvi . Repinski belongs to the Estonian Center Party (Eesti Keskerakond) .

Life

Martin Repinski graduated from the Ida-Viru district vocational school in 2005 . Until 2010 he studied at the Agricultural and Home Economics School in Olustvere .

Repinski has been employed by various Estonian agricultural companies since 2004, including as managing director. He owns one of the largest goat farms in Estonia. He also breeds alpaca . Repinski also holds board positions at several agricultural interest groups.

Political activity

In 2004 Repinski joined the Estonian Center Party. In the 2015 general election, he was elected as a member of the Riigikogu . Repinski has been Minister for Rural Development of the Republic of Estonia in the cabinet of Prime Minister Jüri Ratas since November 23, 2016 . Shortly after the new government took office, he came under pressure due to a scandal surrounding his goat farms, resigned as a minister and returned as a member of parliament. After his election as mayor Jõhvi at the end of June 2018, Repinski had to renounce his seat in the Riigikogu . This was done by Eevi Paasmäe.

In the 2019 general election , he ran again as a candidate for the Center Party. In the constituency of Ida-Viru he managed to win a seat in parliament in the Riigikogu again with 976 votes . Although z. T. had been expected that he had only been set up as a vote-catcher, accepted his mandate and in turn renounced the office of mayor in Jõhvi. In spring 2020, Repinski moved from the Defense Committee to the Constitutional Committee because his security clearance had been withdrawn. When asked, he explains that he understands and justified the withdrawal with his economic contacts and frequent visits to Russia.

Private

Martin Repinski has been married to Siret Kotka , who is a member of the Center Party in the Estonian Parliament, since May 2017 . He has a son.
