Martin Sörös

Martin Sörös (* 1991 in Heidenheim ) is a German jazz musician ( piano , keyboard , composition ).

Live and act

Sörös was musically influenced by his parents. Between 2009 and 2011 he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Youth Jazz Orchestra, with which he also performed internationally. From 2010 to 2014 he studied with Martin Schrack , Klaus Graf and Steffen Schorn at the Nuremberg University of Music . He then completed his master's degree at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts by 2017 .

Sörös has been part of Jan Prax's quartet since 2013 . In 2017 he founded his own project Dr. Syros ; in 2018 he released his debut album "Joint Practice".

Prizes and awards

With the Jan Prax Quartet he won the Sparda Jazz Award 2014, the Czech Jazz Contest 2014, the 2nd prize at the 1st Hansjürg Hensler Competition and 3rd place at the New York Jazz Competition in spring 2014 . In 2016 he won the Yamaha Jazz Piano Competition ; as a soloist he received 1st prize (2013) and 3rd prize (2012) at the Bruno Rother Competition.
