After the Berlin novels Mittendrin und Straßen der Sehnsucht (Rowohlt 2003, 2004), Schacht relocated his life to Asia. In this context, the thriller Mandalay Moon (with Bettina Köster ), set in Burma, was created, which thematizes the search for the legendary drug princess Olive Yang against the backdrop of a love triangle. The travel books Instructions for Use for Thailand (2011) and Instructions for Use for Burma / Myanmar (2013) as well as numerous TV reports are also devoted to Asia. Schacht also works for print magazines such as Geo, Fashion Week Magazine and Brigitte. Alongside Berlin, Southeast Asia is a main theme of his work, as is fashion, art and design.
