Martin Teising
Martin Teising (* 1951 in Itzehoe ) is a psychoanalyst and specialist in psychiatry, President of the International Psychoanalytic University Berlin 2012–2018 , Chairman of the German Psychoanalytic Association (2010–2012), European representative on the board of the International Psychoanalytic Association (2015–2019).
Study of medicine and sociology in Frankfurt am Main , license to practice medicine in 1978. Further training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and as a specialist in psychosomatics in Bad Hersfeld and Kassel. Psychoanalytic training at Alexander Mitscherlich in Kassel, doctorate to Dr. phil. at the University of Kassel. Then substitute for a professorship at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, senior physician in the department for psychoanalysis at the University Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Tübingen .
From 1994 to 2012 Teising was a professor at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences . There he taught on the psychodynamics of nursing relationships, social psychological basics, care for mental illnesses, gerontopsychiatric issues, reflection on studies. His main research interests are the psychodynamics of lifelong aging, in particular gender-specific aspects of men, suicidality , representations of diseases such as diabetes mellitus and the psychoanalytic concept of the contact barrier.
