Martina Gerlach

Martina Gerlach (born March 15, 1954 in Stuttgart ) is a German lawyer and former political officer. From December 19, 2016 to the beginning of August 2019, she was State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination .

biography

After graduating from high school in 1973, Martina Gerlach studied law at the University of Tübingen until 1981. After her legal clerkship, she passed the second state examination in 1981. She joined the Berlin judicial service in 1982. There she worked as a judge at the Charlottenburg District Court and was appointed judge for life with effect from March 20, 1986. With effect from October 20, 2003, Gerlach was appointed judge at the Berlin Superior Court in Berlin , where she worked until 2006. She then moved to the Lichtenberg District Court , where she was appointed Vice President on September 1, 2006. In 2011 she moved to the Pankow / Weißensee District Court , where she was appointed President with effect from May 2, 2011. After the elections to the Berlin House of Representatives in September 2016 , she was appointed State Secretary in the Senate Department for Justice, Consumer Protection and Anti-Discrimination under Senator Dirk Behrendt and was responsible for justice. She retired at the beginning of August 2019.
