Martine Schommer

Martine Schommer (born July 13, 1961 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg diplomat and development politician.

Life

Schommer studied Slavic and Sinology at the Institute for Oriental Languages ​​and Civilizations (INALCO) at the University of Paris III . In February 1987, she joined the Grand Duchy in the diplomatic service and went through to 1998 various positions in the Foreign Ministry and the foreign representatives , including from November 1991 to January 1995 at the Permanent Mission of Luxembourg to the European Union in Brussels .

In August 1998 she was appointed ambassador to Beijing , also accredited to Mongolia , Singapore and Vietnam (based in Beijing). From August 2002 to August 2004, Schommer was Director of Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

From September 2004 to August 2008 she served as ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and permanent representative to the European Union in Brussels . From September 2008 to August 2012, Schommer was ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany , based in Berlin . Since August 2012 she has headed Luxembourg's development cooperation .
