Martinos
Martinos (also falsely Marinos ; medium Greek Μαρτίνος , medieval Latin Martinus * not before August 632 in Constantinople Opel , † probably the end of September 641 ibid or Rhodes ) was in the autumn of 641 for a few days co-emperor of the Byzantine Empire .
Life
Martinos was the second youngest son of the emperor Herakleios and Martina . This did everything to ensure that her eldest biological son Heraklonas sole heir to the throne and his stepbrother Constantine III. should be excluded from the line of succession. Still under Herakleios, Martinos was proclaimed nobilissimus at the beginning of 639 and later in the same year Caesar . After Heraklonas had assumed sole rule on May 25, 641, Martinos advanced to become basileus and co-emperor together with another brother ( David Tiberios ) and the later sole ruler Konstans II . At the end of the month (or in November) Martina and her sons were overthrown, mutilated and exiled to Rhodes ; According to Martinos , Johannes von Nikiu may also have died.
