Marx Johannes Friedrich Lucht (* 1804 in Rendsburg ; † July 2, 1891 ) was a German classical philologist , secret councilor and director of the Christianeum in Altona .

Life

Marx Johannes Friedrich Lucht was employed at the school of scholars in Rendsburg in 1830, and in 1836 he became rector of the school of scholars in Kiel . On October 1, 1853, he became director of the Christianeum , which he held for almost 29 years until 1882. In February 1880 he celebrated his 50th anniversary with the participation of the institution and all of Altonas. Lucht was the bearer of the Dannebrog Order ; when he retired in 1882 he was awarded the 3rd Class Red Eagle Order .

Lucht's services to the high school in Altona consisted of maintaining the foundations and the large library , whose holdings he recorded in a systematic list and whose cataloging he took care of in 17 volume catalogs from 1854 , which Peter Schreiner Frandsen , his predecessor in the office of librarian, from 1850 had applied.

The philosopher and educator Friedrich Paulsen , from 1863 a student of the Christianeum, described the director of his institution in his youth memories (published 1909) as follows:

“He was a man between fifty and sixty, tall, slender, extremely flexible figure, in constant motion; a well-built, tall skull, less covered than framed by white hair, gave him something venerable. We had a reputation for great erudition, especially in the area of Roman antiquities. His teaching lost its effectiveness due to a certain lack of energy; he did not have the forward thrust that takes young people with it; Even the dragging, jarring patched-in noises that often piled up in rows, overloaded language often gave his hours something drowsy and dull.
