Mary Odette (* 10. August 1901 in Dieppe ; † 26. March 1987 in Stockport , county of Cheshire , UK ; native Odette Goimbault ) was a French silent movie - actress in the UK and Germany .

Life

Odette Goimbault came to England with her parents as a child, then acted in London theaters as a teenager and made her film debut under her maiden name in the middle of the First World War.

In the first year of peace, the British woman chose the pseudonym Mary Odette and played numerous leading roles in dramas, melodramas and heavy-blooded romances over the next decade. 1923-25 ​​she went to France and Germany for several films and again played leading roles alongside stars such as the Russian exile Iwan Mosjukin ( Extinguishing Torch ), the British Stewart Rome ( In the Shadow of the Mosque ) and the German Eugen Klöpfer ( Elegant Pack ) and Werner Krauss ( Die Moral der Gasse ).

With the end of the silent film era, Mary Odette suddenly fell into oblivion. She married a journalist and moved to India with him , but later returned to England.
