Marydale is a town in the municipality of Siyathemba , Pixley Ka Seme District , Northern Cape Province in South Africa . The city was founded in 1902 by the Dutch Reformed Church . It was named after Mary Snyman, the wife of the owner of the Kalkput farm , which owned the town. In 2011, Marydale had 2,623 residents.
Economy and Transport
There are larger underground water reserves to the northwest of the city, so the region's water supply is mainly based on the use of wind-powered pumps. The city is economically dependent on sheep farming and the cultivation of cotton. The mining of asbestos has decreased significantly in recent years. The city is on the N10 national road . It crosses the regional road R383 here.
