Pixley ka Seme District Municipality (formerly Karoo District ) is a district in the province of Northern Cape in South Africa . It has 186,351 inhabitants (as of October 2011). on a total area of 103,410 km². The district is named after the politician Pixley ka Isaka Seme, who died in 1951 . The district capital is De Aar .
