Siyancuma Local Municipality (formerly Griekwastad , English Siyancuma Local Municipality Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the district of Pixley Ka Seme of the South African province of Northern Cape in South Africa . The seat of the local government is in Douglas . Mayor is Lorraine Oliphant.

The name of the church is an isiXhosa term for 'we smile'. The original inhabitants of the parish were Batswana , Griqua and other mixed race. The dismantling of the apartheid laws brought back smiles on the faces of the residents according to the community name.

population

In 2011 the community had 37,076 inhabitants. Of these, 57.5% were colored , 33% black and 7.5% white. 88.9 % of the speakers were Afrikaans, 5.1% Setswana and 1.3% English.
