Umsobomvu ( English Umsobomvu Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Pixley Ka Seme district of the North Cape Province of South Africa . The seat of the municipal administration is in Colesberg . Mayor is Mzwandile Simon Toto.

The parish name is an isiXhosa name for a star that usually appears at dawn. He symbolizes the new era for the church.

In 2011 the community had 28,376 inhabitants. Of these, 62.6% were black, 30.6% colored and 5.7% white. 54.2% was spoken isiXhosa, 37.9% Afrikaans, 1.9% Sesotho and 1.8% English.
