Masaiti is a town in the province of Copperbelt in Zambia . It is located on the road to Mpongwe 40 kilometers south of Luanshya at 1185 meters above sea level and is the seat of the administration of the district of the same name with 95,581 inhabitants (2000 census).

Masaiti is a rural district with good soils. He benefits from development aid projects, which greatly facilitates farmers' cooperatives and the supply of seeds and artificial fertilizers. Main products are corn, sweet potatoes, soy, charcoal, honey and wax. Attempts are made to farm fish.

The Miengwe forest reserve was considered intact in its existence. However, the difficult economic situation in the mid-1990s led to felling concessions for mining timber and charcoal, the income of which bypassed the district.

Infrastructure

Masaiti has a new elementary school. There is a hospital and an unpaved, 1000 meter long runway. The asphalt road and the railway line into the Copperbelt run through the district.

Social

President Levy Mwanawasa owns the Teke Farm in Masaiti, where he grew 200 hectares of maize in 2006 and had a yield of 450 tons, 10 hectares of bananas, which he plans to expand to 40 hectares, five hectares of soya, five hectares of onions and a half Hectares of beans.
