Masako Hozumi ( Japanese 穂 積 雅子 , Hozumi Masako ; born September 11, 1986 in Chitose ) is a Japanese long-distance speed skater .

At the individual distance Asian championships in Changchun , China , she won bronze over 5000 meters and her first championship title over 3000 meters. Together with Hiromi Ōtsu and Eriko Ishino , she finished 6th in the team run at the 2007 World Championships for Individuals . In the 2006/07 World Cup she was involved in three fourth places in the team, which was fifth in the overall ranking.

The team's performance should improve in the 2007/08 season . She ran in all four races and finished two fourth places, one bronze and one silver. In the end it was only enough for fourth place overall. As a team with Maki Tabata and Hiromi Ōtsu, they competed at the 2008 World Championships for Individuals in Nagano . Initially in third place, a bad move tore a gap in the trio whose closing cost precious seconds and the bronze medal. They had to admit defeat to the German trio, two seconds behind. With 9th place over 3000 meters and 7th place over 5000 meters, an enormous performance boost can be recorded.

The 2008/09 World Cup opener over 3000 meters in Berlin brought her the first bronze medal in an individual decision.

At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver she finished 12th over 500 meters and 5th over 1000 and 1500 meters; in the team pursuit she won the silver medal together with Nao Kodaira and Maki Tabata .
