action

When Masamune Makabe ( 真 壁 政 宗 ) comes to his new high school, he is a handsome, sporty teenager. For this he had trained hard and kept a diet the years before, because as a fat boy he was teased by many in elementary school. Now he wants to prove to himself how popular he can become with his new look - and yet he always has to resist temptations like those from his hungry little sister. Above all, Masamune wants to take revenge on Aki Adagaki ( 安達垣 愛 姫 ). The pretty and adored girl from a rich family used to be the only one who made friends with him. But when he fell in love with her, she rejected him like everyone else. Now Masamune wants to let her fall in love with him and then reject her again.

His plan turns out to be more difficult than expected, because Adagaki is notorious at school for her gross rejection of all her admirers: Not only does she not want a relationship, but also humiliates those in love in front of the whole school. Masamune therefore wants to be careful and first scouts them out. He learns that Adagaki is very popular among the girls and has a personal assistant in clumsy, cute Yoshino Koiwai ( 小 岩 井 吉 乃 ) who follows her everywhere. Her family has served Adagaki's for generations. In addition, Adagaki secretly eats incredibly large quantities, as nothing can satisfy her hunger.

Yoshino is the only one who quickly realizes Masamune's identity, but wants to help him with his plan. She thinks a disappointment could do well for Adagaki's arrogant personality. With her help, Masamune Adagaki can go out and after a while she actually develops feelings for him. But then suddenly Neko Fujinomiya ( 藤 ノ 宮 寧 子 ) appears, a new classmate who is courting Masamune. She pretends to know him, but she is unknown to Masamune. Though physically weak, she is handsome and very persistent. Masamune is urged by Yoshino to try harder for Adagaki and to reject Fujinomiya. On a trip with friends during the summer holidays, he even succeeds in getting Adagaki Masamune to pretend to be her lover in order to preserve her pride.

Fujinomiya's false stories about how they are supposed to have met and their attachments do not get out of Masamune's head. He almost wants to give up his plan of revenge and respond to Fujinomiya's advertising. But when this also seems artificial to him, he finally rejects it. Shortly afterwards she disappears and is only found after the friends search together. She has to go to hospital because of her poor health. This, she admits to Masamune there, was also the reason to confess her love to him. She wanted to experience real love once in her probably short life. For this she chose him at random. Although he turned her away, she is happy with the experience she has had.

Just as this problem for Masamune has been solved, a boy appears at Adagaki's who looks like him as a child - smaller and plump - and initially introduces himself as Masamune. In fact, he is Kanetsugu Gasō ( 雅 宗 兼 次 ), scion of an impoverished family, who Adagaki was promised. He is immediately accepted as a fiancé, also by Adagaki. He reminds her of the Masamune from earlier, whom she liked because of his plumpness and who had fallen in love with him. Back at school at the end of the summer vacation, Masamune is completely surprised by this development and desperately tries to find out why Adagaki accepts Kanetsugu as a fiancé and now a constant companion at school. Adagaki's friends, who have so far been enthusiastic about their rejection of all men, are initially shocked. But Kanetsugu can also pull her on his side by assuring that he is not interested in Adagaki's body, but only wants to marry into the rich family.

When the school festival is due to take place soon afterwards, both Masamune and Fujinomiya’s class and Adagaki, Yoshino and Kanetsugu’s class want to perform Snow White . So it comes to the competition of both classes, in which Masamune and Kanetsugu also want to determine who can dance with Adagaki at the ball. Adagaki's friends try to prevent their competition from being successful by imprisoning Masamune, and Yoshino also carries out the same plan with Kanetsugu - both are supposed to play the prince. Finally Masamune is released and, because he is sorry for Adagaki, joins their play as prince. Then he breaks down with a cold and his class has to cancel their play. The tie leaves both classes dissatisfied and the dispute between Kanetsugu and Masamune remains undecided.
