Masashi Hamauzu
Masashi Hamauzu ( Japanese 浜 渦 正 志 Hamauzu Masashi ; born September 20, 1971 in Munich ) is a composer for video game soundtracks who worked for Square Enix for almost a decade .
Life
He initially composed songs for Front Mission : Gun Hazard (1996) and Tobal No. 1 (1996), later works were the soundtracks of Final Fantasy X 2001 (together with Nobuo Uematsu and Jun'ya Nakano ), Final Fantasy X-2 2002 (together with Jun'ya Nakano) and Musashi: Samurai Legend (2005) ( with Jun'ya Nakano and Takayuki Iwai & Yuki Iwai from Wavelink Zeal ).
His solo work includes Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon (1997), SaGa Frontier 2 (1999), Unlimited SaGa (2002), and Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII- (2006). In a surprise announcement at the E3 game fair , it was announced that Hamauzu would return to the Final Fantasy series to take part in the work on Final Fantasy XIII .
Hamauzu's works are often reminiscent of pieces by Chopin , Ravel and Debussy , as they contain elements of both classical and ambient . He composes pieces in many different musical genres, which can be seen especially in his soundtrack for UNLIMITED SaGa , which contains various musical forms such as marching music , tango , ambient, instrumental solos and jazz elements .
