Benyamin nut
Benyamin Nuss (born June 20, 1989 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German pianist and composer .
Life
At the age of six, the son of trombonist Ludwig Nuss and nephew of jazz pianist Hubert Nuss received his first piano lessons and was supported in the piano workshop of Viktor Langemann in Erftstadt . From 2004 Nuss was taught by the concert pianist Andreas Frölich in Bonn and in 2006 switched to Ilja Scheps as a young student at the Cologne University of Music , Aachen department , where he continued his studies in piano after completing his Abitur. He also attended courses with Ragna Schirmer , Ilana Shapira-Marinescu and Anatol Ugorski . In 2015, Nuss completed his master’s degree with distinction in Aachen.
His success enabled nut, with the State Youth Orchestra NRW under 2005 Hermann Bäumer the first piano concerto by Ludwig van Beethoven perform. His concerts also took him to the Laeiszhalle and the Cologne Philharmonic . In 2006 he received a scholarship from the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation and gave piano recitals and concerts with orchestras in North Rhine-Westphalia and with the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra. In autumn 2008 he performed twelve concerts as a soloist in the cycle “Best of NRW”. In autumn 2009 he performed with the WDR Rundfunkorchester Köln , a. a. in the concert "Symphonic Fantasies", which had video game music from the manufacturer Square Enix on the subject. On September 25, 2010 he gave a solo concert in the “ Tuchfabrik ” cultural center in Trier .
On September 19, 2010 his debut album Benyamin Nuss plays Uematsu was released by Deutsche Grammophon , on which he interprets the works of the Japanese video game composer Nobuo Uematsu on the piano. He then went with this album on tour in several countries, including Japan , where he also with the Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin and the Piano Concerto by Maurice Ravel occurred. Further tours took him to China (2015) and the USA (2016).
On 10/11 November 2016 he performed with the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester under Wayne Marshall in Leonard Bernstein's seldom played 2nd symphony for piano and orchestra ( The Age of Anxiety ) .
Benyamin Nuss is also active as a jazz pianist, for example with his own jazz quartet, the Fries-Nuss-Quartet and in a trio together with his father Ludwig Nuss and the bassist John Goldsby .
