Andy Miles

Andy Miles (actually Andree Schmid , * around 1964 ) is a German clarinetist and composer .

Life

Andy Miles studied at the University of the Arts Bremen and at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover , most recently with Helmut Pallushek. In 1990 - at the age of 26 - he became one of the youngest clarinetists in Germany to be principal clarinet with the Hamburg Philharmonic . In 1992 he switched to the Funkhausorchester of the WDR Cologne as principal clarinet .

Miles is a versatile musician, he plays both classical and jazz- inspired works.

To kick off the Freiberg Jazz Days 2019 with the Central Saxon Philharmonic , he composed the Symphonic Jazz Rhapsody , which focuses on the clarinetist Anja Bachmann and which premiered on April 12, 2019.
