Hans Dekker

Hans Dekker (* 1969 in Boekelo ) is a Dutch jazz drummer.

Dekker, whose father is also a drummer, started playing drums at the age of nine. His father taught him some basics, and when he took him to an Art Blakey concert when he was nine, he got into jazz. As a teenager he drummed in a marching band . He studied at the Hilversum Conservatory and then worked with musicians such as Frits Landesbergen , Ack van Rooyen , Greetje Kauffeld , Rob Pronk , Jasper van't Hof and Jerry van Rooyen .

Dekker was one of the founding members of the Concertgebouw Jazz Orchestra , to which he belonged for eight years, and has been a member of the WDR Big Band Cologne since 2005 . He played with Scott Hamilton , Lee Konitz , Dave Liebman , Nils Landgren , Hugh Masekela , Bob Brookmeyer and Dee Dee Bridgewater . He took albums and a. with Madeline Bell , Lalo Schifrin , John Goldsby , Biréli Lagrène, Claudio Roditi / Klaus Ignatzek , Götz Alsmann , Maceo Parker , Joe Lovano and Jasmin Tabatabai .

From 1995 onwards, Dekker was a lecturer at the Conservatory in Enschede ; since 1998 he has been a guest lecturer with the Federal Jazz Orchestra several times .
