Olivier Peters

Olivier Peters (born June 9, 1955 in Paris ) is a French saxophonist ( tenor , soprano saxophone , flute , EWI ) of modern jazz .

Peters comes from a musical family; his father was a conductor, his mother a violinist; his younger brother is Grégoire Peters . He studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. From 1980 to 1983 he lived in New York, where he a. a. Has performed and recorded with Buddy Rich (CD: "Rich & Famous"), Mel Lewis , Louie Bellson , Jaki Byard , Toshiko Akiyoshi , Sarah Vaughan , Frank Sinatra , Vinnie Johnson and Tony Bennett .

Peters has been a saxophonist in the WDR Big Band since 1985 . He recorded three of his own albums, on which Walter Norris , Bob Brookmeyer , Mel Lewis , Frank Chastenier and Danny Gottlieb participated. On more than sixty albums he played as a sideman a. a. with Lalo Schifrin , Patti Austin , Randy Brecker , Biréli Lagrène , Götz Alsmann , Maceo Parker and Joe Lovano .
