The Maschawera ( Georgian მაშავერა ) is a river in the Lower Cartlia region of Georgia . It runs about 60 km southwest of the capital Tbilisi .
The origin of the river is the union of the two rivers Sarpdere and Nasiklitsch , which flow down from the eastern slopes of Mount Emikli ( 3053 m ) in the Javakheti Mountains , at an altitude of 1358 m . The Maschawera has a length of 66 km and flows into the Chrami River at an altitude of 390 m . The catchment area of the river covers an area of 1390 km².
The width of the river varies between 2 m (near Dschawachi) and 20 m (near Bolnissi ), its depth between 40 cm and 120 cm. The flow speed of the Maschawera is between 0.6 and 2.0 m / s.
On the left bank of the river was the Caucasian-German colony Katherinenfeld, today's Bolnissi, opposite the confluence with the Chrami the village of Traubenberg, today Tamarissi .
