The building of the former Maschinenfabrik GW Barth form an under monument protection standing Ensemble at the intersection of Martin Luther Street / Straße in the Baden-Württemberg town of Ludwigsburg .

The three-axis villa , which was built in 1904/05 by the German architect Friedrich Haußer in the historicist style , is dominated by a medium- sized risalit that extends into the roof . Another residential building built in 1890 rounds off the ensemble with a free-standing assembly hall built in 1922.

history

In 1890, the Swabian entrepreneur Georg Wilhelm Barth joined the Ludwigsburg company Factory for Patented Safety Roasters Josef Haag as a partner . From then changed its name the company as a factory for patent Security roaster GW Barth . The core business initially formed the production of machines for roasting corn , peanuts and chicory , and later expanded its product portfolio with the Kugelröstmaschine Sirocco for roasting of coffee and cocoa beans , used due to their stable design part today of chocolate manufacturers.

In the 1970s, there was increasing demand for electronically controlled machines that the company could not deliver. The result was a drop in sales and bankruptcy in 1980 . The company later became part of the Swiss Bühler Group . Since 2007 the company name has been Bühler Barth GmbH ; the new location is in Freiberg am Neckar .
