The Maschinenfabrik Kappel AG was a joint stock company based in Chemnitz-Kappel . With up to 1500 employees, it manufactured machines for the clothing and wood industries, motors and machine tools . From 1914 until it was dismantled, over 200,000 typewriters were also produced.
history
Maschinenfabrik Kappel AG 1860 Kändler by Fürchtegott Moritz Albert Voigt , who later became an honorary citizen of Wörth an der Donau founded. In 1867 the company was relocated to Chemnitz-Kappel and operated as the Saxon Embroidery Machine Factory from 1870 . In 1872 the legal form was changed to Aktiengesellschaft and on November 15, 1888 the name was changed to Maschinenfabrik Kappel AG. It had up to 1,500 employees.
Because of the Great Depression in 1931, it had to be compared . Maschinenfabrik Kappel GmbH was founded as a rescue company in 1932 . After a good development, the business was again operated by the stock corporation from 1938.
At the end of the Second World War , the production machines were dismantled as reparations for the Soviet Union and the company was nationalized in 1946. In 1951 it became part of VEB Schleifmaschinenbau .
Products
The focus of the offer of Maschinenfabrik Kappel AG was initially on machines for the clothing and wood industry and machine tools. It was divided into these three sub-areas.
In 1886 she constructed the first German tulle machine and set up the Saxon tulle factory to demonstrate its efficiency . In doing so, she broke the English monopoly on tulle .
The first typewriter was developed by Otto Rössler and Bernhard Dost and built from 1914. Further developments of this office typewriter came on the market in 1921, 1937 and 1939. From 1934 portable typewriters were also offered, but these were manufactured by the Olympia-Werke .
Armaments were also produced during the First and Second World Wars.
