The Maskelyne Passage is a strait in the Biscoe Islands archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It runs between Larrouy Island and Tadpole Island in the east and Cat Island , Runnelstone Rock and Hummock Island in the west.
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped them using aerial photographs from Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1959 after the British astronomer Nevil Maskelyne (1732-1811), first author of the Nautical Almanac in 1767.
