Massimo Costa (director)
Massimo Costa (born June 2, 1951 in Rome ; † January 30, 2004 ibid) was an Italian cultural worker, film director and screenwriter .
Life
Costa was assistant director to Mario Monicelli in 1976 and then worked in a theater collective as director of the play "The Fool and the Nun" by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz . In the first half of the 1980s he was responsible for events at the Estate Romana , a cultural series that took place from June to September, in particular the rock concerts of the Incontri di Castel Sant'Angelo ; he also made feature films and music programs. In 1986 he made the program "Cinema & Co." 24 times for Retequattro .
Costa founded the "Excelsior Film TV", with which he supplied television stations with some films and in 1988 turned to directing a movie for the first time ; However, Voglia di rock wasn't released to theaters until 1990. From 1991 to 1994 he mainly worked for the theater. In 1999 he shot the popular Vuoti a perdere .
Shortly before his untimely death, he completed his last film , as always according to his own script , which he financed with the recently founded company “Granaio”.
