Massimo Margiotta (born July 27, 1977 in Maracaibo , Venezuela ) is a former Italian - Venezuelan football player . He played in the position of a striker .
Career
In the club
Massimo Margiotta began his career in 1994 at Pescara Calcio in Serie B , where he initially played little, but met regularly. As a result he played two more seasons in Abruzzo. For the 1997/98 season he then moved to AS Cosenza Calcio , where he met 19 times in 33 games and thus played a decisive role in the promotion to Serie B. Nevertheless, Margiotta changed clubs at the end of the season, first he played half a season for Reggiana before he played for the US Lecce for the rest of the season. For the 1999/2000 season Margiotta moved to Serie A for Udinese Calcio for the first time . Here he was used regularly, but was not completely convincing. Although he scored a few hits in European Cup (a total of 6 hits in 11 games), he did not succeed enough in Serie A. Therefore, after two seasons in Udine , Margiotta moved to Vicenza Calcio in Serie B. Here he formed one of the most dangerous striker duos in Serie B with Stefan Schwoch during the following seasons . Due to the poor economic situation of Vicenza, Margiotta was appointed for the 2003/04 season the AC Perugia loaned out. After a season he returned to Vicenza. Recent financial difficulties meant that Margiotta had to be loaned to Piacenza Calcio for the 2005/06 season . For the 2006/07 season Margiotta was loaned to the newly promoted Frosinone Calcio , where he was successful with eleven goals. He was then firmly committed by Frosinone, but returned to Vicenza a year later. Most recently he played for the Italian third division club SS Barletta Calcio .
In the national team
Margiotta was one of the key players in the Italian U-21 national team that took part in the 2000 Olympics. As a result, he did not make the jump to the senior national team, so he decided in 2004 to play for his native Venezuela in the future. With Venezuela, Margiotta took part in the Copa America 2004 and in the qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup.
