Masta Huda (born January 14, 1970 in Vienna ; bourgeois Christian Lisak ) is an Austrian DJ and music producer . In 1993, he briefly reached 20th place on the national charts with the hip-hop group “ Beauty Defects ”. He runs the music label Goldfish Records, in Brunn am Gebirge near Vienna.

Youth and education

Masta Huda was born in 1970 in Vienna as the son of Friedrich Lisak and Herta Stift. He attended elementary school and then grammar school, which he left in lower school. After a short time in a technical college, he began an apprenticeship as a toolmaker and completed it in 1987.

Musical beginnings

Masta Huda began to produce his first songs on his Commodore 64 in 1985 . Additionally equipped with a sampler , which enabled him to digitize pieces of music up to 1.8 seconds long, which at that time corresponded to the state of the art, he dealt with samples and loops . At the same time, he was DJing in a pub and performing his first appearances together with Toni Goldman , a reggae singer whom he had met through his work in the bar.

Illegal Movement

Masta Huda met CM-Flex in 1988, who dealt with hip-hop culture in Brooklyn and created a musical project with him. CM-Flex founded the Illegal Movement as a rapper and Masta Huda as a producer and DJ . The results of their cooperation they presented in customized programs for the time from the attic of the Vienna University of Economics sending pirate radio station 103.3 . There they broadcast hip-hop songs from well-known groups of their own.

Commitment in professional business

As Masta Huda and CM-Flex to the Gainful gallivants met and 1992 to blemishes got together they had finalized their first album. However, priority was given to the new project, and so their LP Da Fifth da Menschn was only released after the first Blemish EP Broj Jedan. This under their self-founded label Duck Squat . That also helped the later successful hip-hop groups Texta and Total Chaos to their first records. Defect had a television appearance in 1994 on the ORF program X-Large . This was the first time the formation was able to make their ideas known to a broad television audience.

In 1996 two albums were released under the name Putz di and cosmetic defects comes . This was followed by airplay on Ö3 , who played the song Immer Nice Slow in particular , and on FM4 , where their track Boom - And Du Schaust Doom Aus Der Klassen was number 1 in the listener's hit parade.

Collaboration with the singer Bella Wagner at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016

Masta Huda was nominated at the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2017 in the category “Songwriter of the Year” together with Bella Wagner and Hovannes Djibian for the composition of the song “Weapons down”.
