Texta first appeared in 1995 with the debut EP Geschmeidig . In the following year, further publications and appearances with well-known hip-hop groups such as Fettes Brot or Massive Töne followed .

In 1997, the first album Gediegen was released via GECO Tonwaren and shortly afterwards a corresponding instrumental version under the name Geschwiegen . The group completed their first tour of Germany together with Blumentopf and Total Chaos in September 1998, and on this tour they started the Posse project Kaleidoskop . In December 1999 the “opposite tour” with Dike , the LP , Dejavue and On an On took place. In July 1999, her record, Question Time , was released, followed by her second album, Gegenüber . In 2001 they were nominated for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award as an Alternative Act (later the FM4 Award ) . With the third studio album Blickwinkel , Texta was able to place itself in the Austrian album charts for the first time in 2002 . In the same year, the song Linz- Bucharest emerged from a collaboration with the Romanian group Paraziții . The fourth album Either way , in 2004 on the market. The track on it, Alt , which was recorded with Blumentopf, was released as a single . In 2005 there was another collaboration within the framework of the Kaleidoskop project .

In 2006 a concept album called Black Earth was created under the pseudonym Die Invisbaren . For several years now, they have been producing local hip-hop newcomers on their own record label, Tonträger Records , such as the rap duo Rückgrat , Kayo & Phekt or the successors of Brotlose Kunst and the collaboration project Markantehaben . At the end of 2008, Texta and Ned Deppat contributed the soundtrack to the film Echte Wiener - Die Sackbauer-Saga . This entered the Austrian single charts in January 2009.

On January 30th and 31st, 2009 Texta could be seen together with Blumentopf, Total Chaos and the big band SK Invitational on the occasion of their 16th band anniversary ("Sweet 16") on the stages of the Linz Posthof and the Vienna Gasometer . A live recording of these concerts was released as an album the following autumn. In the same year they won the Amadeus Awards 2009 in the HipHop / R'n'B category . As of 2009, some members of Texta focused on their solo careers. So Skero released his solo album Memoiren einer Giant (and the single Kabinenparty ) and Huckey released the EP Ganz schön uglich with Average. Flip also released his album Umberto Ghetto in late May 2010.

In May 2011, after a break of several years, the new studio album Grotesk was released . In February 2015 Texta released the album #hmlr together with Blumentopf under the group name TNT and in April 2016 with nothing against it, but the eleventh album in the band's history.
