The Mastigamoebaea are a group of amoeba within the Amoebozoa .

features

The Mastigamoebaea are amoeboid protozoa with several pseudopodia . Under certain environmental conditions, the body becomes stiff without amoeboid movements. They have a single flagellum that faces forward and has a stiff, vibrating beat. There are also stadiums without a scourge. They have a single kinetosome with a cone of microtubules that extend towards the nucleus . They have a single nucleus, but some species have several. The nucleoli are large and are preserved during nuclear division, which is done with an intranuclear spindle. They form cysts .

The cells do not have mitochondria . They occur in environments with little or no oxygen (microaerophilic to anaerobic) that are rich in dissolved nutrients.
