Matías Enrique Abelairas (born June 18, 1985 in Olavarría ) is an Argentine football player . He has been under contract with Nea Salamis Famagusta in Cyprus since July 2016 .

Career

Abelairas played for CA River Plate from his youth . He made his first appearance in the first team on June 3, 2004 against Racing Club Avellaneda . In mid-2011, his contract with River Plate was not renewed. He was without engagement for six months before CR Vasco da Gama signed him in early 2012 . In mid-2012, the Mexican club Puebla FC signed him before he joined the Chilean club Unión Española in early 2013 . At the beginning of 2014 he moved to FC Vaslui in Romania. His new club withdrew from League 1 in the summer of 2014 . Abelairas was without engagement for half a year before CA Banfield brought him to his home country in early 2015 . It was rarely used there. In February 2016 he moved to Independiente Rivadavia in the Primera B Nacional , the second Argentine division. Since summer 2016 he has been playing for Nea Salamis Famagusta in the Cypriot First Division .
