Mateja Šimic (born March 11, 1980 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian triathlete and two-time Olympic competitor (2012, 2016).

Career

Mateja Šimic was active in swimming as a teenager and later came to triathlon. In 2008 their son was born. In 2011 she won the Kalterer See Triathlon for the second time after 2007 .

At the Olympic Summer Games in London in 2012, the then 32-year-old finished 37th for Slovenia. Mateja Šimic became the 2013 Slovenian short distance triathlon champion and she was able to secure this title again in June 2014.

She started in August 2016 at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and finished 31st. She said she no longer wanted to compete in the Summer Olympics in 2020.

It has not appeared internationally since 2016. Mateja Šimic lives in Ljubljana , where she was born .
