Mathias Mogge
Mathias Mogge (born March 16, 1964 in Göttingen ) is a German agricultural engineer , environmental scientist and Secretary General of Welthungerhilfe .
Career
Mathias Mogge grew up in Göttingen , where he graduated from high school in 1984.
He completed his studies in agricultural sciences at the Leibniz University in Hanover from 1987 to 1992 as a graduate engineer. From 2006 to 2007 he studied environmental science at the University of East Anglia , Norwich (Great Britain), where he obtained an M.Sc. completed.
From 1993 to 1995 Mogge worked as a development worker for the German Development Service in the Natural Resource Management Project in Kutum, Darfur , Sudan .
Mogge has worked in various positions at Welthungerhilfe since 1998 : As a program manager, he was responsible for project work in Uganda , Ethiopia and Sudan until 2001 . From 2001 to 2005, as Regional Director for West Africa from Bamako , Mali, he coordinated the Welthungerhilfe programs in Mali , Burkina Faso , Liberia and Sierra Leone before taking over the management of the Knowledge, Innovation, Consulting specialist group in Bonn .
In March 2010, Mogge was appointed to the full-time program director of Welthungerhilfe, of which he has been General Secretary and Chairman of the Board since September 2018.
Private
Mathias Mogge is married and has three children, he lives in Bonn .
Mogge is the guitarist of the indie / pop band White Maze.
Memberships and offices
Mathias Mogge has been an honorary board member of the Association for Development Policy and Humanitarian Aid of German Non-Governmental Organizations since 2013 . V. (VENRO) .
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Aid by Trade Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board of the Hidden Hunger Conference Series at the University of Hohenheim . Mogge has been an expert in the Advisory Group on Development-Oriented Agricultural Research (BEAF) at GIZ since 2010 .
From 1999 to 2013 he was honorary chairman of the Certification Committee for Third Countries of Ecocert SA .
