Mathias Nonn

Mathias Nonn , also Matthias (born July 26, 1876 in Kaiserswerth , † September 22, 1945 in Bad Nenndorf ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending elementary school, Nonn completed an apprenticeship as a mason and then worked as a plasterer and plasterer in the construction industry. He was a union member and was union secretary in Cologne until 1912 . In October 1913 he moved to Trier , where he was employed by the construction workers' association and the construction trade union. In 1922 he took over the management of the Trier branch of the building trade association. In March 1923 he was expelled as an opponent of the separatists during the occupation of the Rhineland . He worked at short notice as an employee for the building trade union in Elberfeld and Barmen, but returned to Trier after the end of the secessionist efforts, where he continued his work. In addition, from 1930 to 1933 he was chairman of the supervisory board of the non-profit building cooperative of the free trade unions in Trier.

Nonn joined the SPD and was from 1913 to 1933, interrupted by his expulsion in 1923, city councilor in Trier. From 1927 to 1928 he was chairman of the SPD Trier and from 1930 to 1931 a member of the party executive in the sub-district. In 1919 he ran unsuccessfully in the election to the German National Assembly . In the elections to the Reichstag in May and December 1924 , he was also set up, but again won no mandate. In May 1928 he was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament, to which he was a member until 1932. In the state parliament he represented constituency 21 (Koblenz-Trier).

After the National Socialists came to power , Nonn was dismissed as trade union secretary in 1933 and imprisoned for a short time. In 1944 he was seriously wounded in an air raid on Trier.
