Mathias Schneid

Mathias Schneid (born July 31, 1840 in Wemding , Bavaria , † December 12, 1893 in Eichstätt ) was a German philosopher . From 1871 to 1893 he was a professor at the Lyceum Eichstätt .

Life

Mathias Schneid studied theology there after graduating from high school in Eichstätt. Ordained a priest in 1865, he became Prefect of the Episcopal Boys' College in 1867, lecturer in 1869 and Professor of Philosophy at the Episcopal Lyceum in Eichstätt in 1872 . From 1885 to 1893 he was also the governor of the Eichstätt seminary and rector of the lyceum , from 1891 to 1893 at the same time cathedral capitular in the diocese of Eichstätt .

In 1875, Schneid received a doctorate from the University of Freiburg / Breisgau. phil. been awarded a doctorate.

In 1892, Schneid founded the Academia-Eichstätt student union in KV , which later became known as K.St.V. Rheno-Frankonia was relocated to Würzburg .

Schneid wrote numerous writings, he is considered an important representative of neo-scholasticism .

At the age of 54, Schneid died of pneumonia .
