Mathias Stein (actually Jens Mathias Stein ; born February 21, 1970 in Kiel ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He was elected as a direct candidate in the Bundestag in the Bundestag constituency of Kiel for the 2017 Bundestag election.

Life

Mathias Stein was born on February 21, 1970 in Kiel. He trained as a hydraulic engineer in Wedel . In addition to his job, he trained as a construction technician and passed the advanced technical college entrance qualification . From 2000 to 2017 he was a staff council in the Federal Transport Administration. Before his work as a member of the Bundestag , he most recently worked as the chairman of the staff council in the administration of the Kiel Canal in Kiel.

Mathias Stein is non-denominational, has a relationship with the Lübeck state parliament member Kerstin Metzner and has a grown son from a previous marriage.

From 2011 to 2017 Mathias Stein was a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Schleswig-Holstein . Since 2017 he has been a member of the district executive committee of the SPD Kiel.

Member of the Bundestag

Mathias Stein has been a directly elected member of the German Bundestag since 2017 . There he is a member of the Transport Committee and a deputy member of the Finance and Defense Committee. Within the SPD parliamentary group, he belongs to the parliamentary left and is a member of the transport and digital infrastructure working groups and the finance working group.

Positions

Stein advocates a social and ecological change in traffic that significantly reduces the proportion of individual motorized traffic . He is the rapporteur of the SPD parliamentary group for pedestrian and bicycle traffic and mobility of the future (electromobility, national fuel strategy) and also for the waterway and shipping administration, inland navigation and flood protection , planning law, spatial planning and public participation in the transport sector.
