Mathilde II (Bourbon)

Mathilde II. ( Mahaut II. ) (* Probably 1234; † 1262 ) was mistress of Bourbon and Countess of Nevers , Auxerre and Tonnerre . She was the older daughter of Archambault IX. , Lord of Bourbon, and Jolanthe of Châtillon , Countess of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre.

Her father married her and her sister Agnes in February 1242 to members of the older house of Burgundy , before joining King Louis IX in August of the same year . set out for the Sixth Crusade . Her husband was Odo , heir duke of Burgundy , her sister's younger brother Johann.

Her father died in Cyprus in 1249 and Mathilde inherited the Bourbon rule. In 1257 she inherited the counties of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre from her great-grandmother Mathilde von Courtenay . Odo carried these titles as Mathilde's husband.

Mathilde and Odo had three daughters:

Mathilde died in 1262, her daughter Jolanthe inherited the counties Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre, but passed the last two on to her sisters in 1273.
