Mathilde Hellwig

Mathilde Hellwig (born September 19, 1825 in Vienna , † November 15, 1892 ibid) was an Austrian opera singer and member of the Vienna Court Opera .

Life

Mathilde Swatosch, married Mathilde von Vivenot, was the daughter of a music teacher. At the age of seven she had already won a great price in the conservatory. From 1841 to 1844 and again from 1845 to 1849 she was a soprano at the k. k. Employed at Theater am Kärntnertor in Vienna. One of her star roles was Halévy's opera Der Blitz . Before that she worked at the Theater an der Wien .

On February 6, 1850, she married the well-known surgeon Rudolph von Vivenot and gave up her career. From this connection come three children, u. a. the later k. u. k. Field Marshal Lieutenant Oscar von Vivenot (1859–1932).
